The Leaves Are Changing and So Are We

The Leaves Are Changing and So Are We

By Remnant Framing | November 7, 2025

As autumn settles into Huntsville, the colors at Lowe Mill A&E seem to take on a deeper resonance, especially inside the gallery walls of Remnant Framing, where transformation itself has become the theme.

Beginning this week, artist Kait Steward brings her vibrant, emotionally charged body of work The Leaves Are Changing and So Are We to Remnant’s gallery space as part of the Remnant Gallery Series, with a reception on Friday, November 14, from 6–8pm.

Kait’s work will began installation yesterday, Thursday, November 6, transforming the studio into a landscape of color and light. Each piece, layered in texture and emotion, is a reflection on growth, grief, and the evolving ways we see the world. Drawing from her background in photography and education, Kait weaves together fragments of memory and place, capturing both the chaos and calm of creative life.

“I’ve learned to stop worrying about making something good,” Kait shares in her recent interview with Christina Wegman. “Sometimes you’re just trying to make something.”

That conversation was recorded in Kait's studio at Lowe Mill in Huntsville Alabama and forms the basis of the newest installment of the Remnant Framing Studio Series, now available in audio format on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Substack.

The podcast brings listeners inside the creative process, pairing thoughtful conversations with the sounds, energy, and spirit of the artists who fill the beautiful space here at Lowe Mill A&E.

The series will soon expand into a documentary collection of mini-films, offering a visual counterpart to the conversations that unfold in the studio. Together, they reveal the intersection between art, craft, and the community of makers that defines Lowe Mill and Huntsville’s creative core.

In Kait’s case, that intersection is especially vivid. Her bold palette of fluorescent reds, deep greens, and sunlit blues reflects an emotional geography. It is a mapping of change, reflection, and persistence. It’s work that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant.

“Half the joy of being here,” she says, “is the connection. You walk down the hall and see all kinds of art.”

Visitors to the gallery will also notice the array of tools and materials featured in Kait’s process, many of which are available from Huntsville Art Supplies, located on the second floor of Lowe Mill.

Come experience the shift  in season, color, and perspective.
