The Week’s Reflection
There’s a steady rhythm to the work here at Remnant Framing—some days are full of visitors and lively conversation, while others are quieter, leaving room for focused framing and planning. This week was a bit of both, reminding me of the balance between connection and craft that keeps this space alive. One of the biggest rewards is seeing the walls adorned with art from the community, each piece telling its own story and adding a layer to the atmosphere here. Finding that rhythm in the busyness has been a fulfilling challenge, keeping me focused on each frame and the stories within.
On The Wall
One of the standout projects this week, which is also currently on display at Remnant, was reframing an exquisite watercolor by Yuri Ozaki. It’s always a privilege to work on pieces with such detail and depth. Moving the artwork from a metal frame to a warm, natural wood frame brought out the piece’s softer tones, enhancing its organic quality. Framing a work like this requires precision to respect the artist’s vision, but it also involves finding a balance between the frame’s structure and the artwork itself. This project reminds me how the right framing can be an art of its own, amplifying a piece’s impact without overshadowing it.
Community Highlights
Lowe Mill’s community was buzzing this week, especially with events and Halloween festivities. I had a great conversation with some new visitors who moved here from Ohio and collect artwork by a rare French artist. I also connected with an artist from Atlanta who was intrigued by the custom frames and pre framed canvases we offer. Each connection with an artist or customer brings new perspectives and ideas, keeping this space dynamic and constantly evolving. It’s inspiring to be part of such a supportive network, where each interaction—whether a casual chat or a collaborative project—adds to the creative energy here at the Mill.
Looking Ahead
We’re restocking popular items, especially with the holiday season coming up. Cheryl Buick’s prints were a hit, so keep an eye out for more of her wrk on the walls at remnant. Also, we are now preparing for Falling Through Space, a captivating exhibit by Lowe Mill artist Chris Wade, going up soon and running through the fall season until early November.
I’m also looking into ways to offer framed prints online, expanding Remnant Framing’s reach beyond the studio. There’s excitement building around upcoming events and exhibitions, and the new stock of frames and materials will allow us to take on a broader range of projects as we prepare for more visitors. Stop by the studio to see the latest pieces or talk about custom framing ideas—it’s always a pleasure to welcome new faces!
