Thoughts from the Week
Every week brings a new rhythm to the studio, and this one had its own sense of progress. I focused on the subtle details that bring a gallery space to life. There’s something special about getting into the flow of refining the lighting, adjusting a display, or finding the right frame to complement the art on the walls. It’s a process of continually tuning the space, making it a little better each time, and it reminded me that sometimes it’s these small, consistent improvements that make the biggest impact.
Current Projects
Right now, I'm in the middle of preparing frames for the upcoming exhibit, Falling Through Space. These pieces really call for an unconventional approach, and framing them has been like diving into someone else’s imagination. Each frame is a chance to find that unique blend of structure and creativity, and it’s been gratifying to create designs that add depth to the artwork.
There’s also a delicate, ongoing balance between adding character to the studio and ensuring that each piece has its own space to breathe. Finding that balance is almost like framing itself—allowing for contrast, but never too much, so that the viewer is drawn in without distraction.
Building a Culture
Creating a gallery that resonates with both artists and visitors has been a constant focus, and every new project adds a layer to that experience. From the lighting to the framing styles, it’s about setting a tone that feels welcoming and alive. I want people to feel a connection when they walk through the door, a sense that the space respects both the art and those who enjoy it.
There’s an ongoing challenge in managing a space that feels cohesive yet flexible enough to showcase a variety of works. This week, a few small changes to the gallery layout opened up new possibilities for future exhibitions and made me realize how much of a difference a slight shift can make in creating a place where art feels right at home.
Looking Forward
As I think ahead, I'm excited about expanding the gallery’s online presence. There's a lot of potential in sharing the work here with a wider audience, and I’m looking forward to showcasing some of the featured pieces on our website. The digital gallery will allow art lovers from anywhere to connect with what’s on the wall in a meaningful way.
I’ve also been considering ways to introduce elements that bring more of the creative process into view, so visitors can get a sense of what goes on behind the frames. Whether it’s through events or interactive content, I want to create an experience that’s immersive, even for those who may not be physically in the studio.
Closing Reflection
Running Remnant Framing has become as much about building community as it is about framing art. Each day in the studio feels like a reminder of why I wanted to be here in the first place—to create, to share, and to add value to a space that holds meaning. There’s a certain satisfaction that comes from seeing it all come together, even if just one small detail at a time.
Until next time, thanks for being part of the journey.
