There Is No Place Like Mars (Or Lowe Mill) for the Holidays

There Is No Place Like Mars (Or Lowe Mill) for the Holidays

Tomorrow, Saturday, December 6, Lowe Mill turns into a holiday orbit.

All day, the building will be buzzing with the Yule Y’all Market, and by evening, Remnant Framing is taking things off-planet with our new collaboration show and sci-fi art party, There Is No Place Like Mars For The Holidays.

Yule Y’all: Holiday Chaos, Lowe Mill Style

From 11am–7pm, Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment hosts the Yule Y’all Market, a full building holiday experience with artists, makers, food, music, and the kind of energy you only get when you put hundreds of creative people under one old factory roof.

If you’re here hunting for gifts, taking photos by the water tower, or just wandering the halls with a hot drink, come find Remnant Framing in Railroad Room 3B.

The important part:

The artwork for There Is No Place Like Mars For The Holidays is already up.

So even if you can’t make it back for the evening event, you can still step into the gallery, take in the show, and get a preview of the Martian holiday universe we’ve built.

There Is No Place Like Mars For The Holidays: 7–10pm

From 7–10pm, we officially launch There Is No Place Like Mars For The Holidays, a sci-fi art party and group exhibition that leans into Huntsville’s space DNA and twists it through a holiday lens.

Think:

  • Retro-future vibes

  • Sci-fi storytelling and strange holiday worlds

  • A gallery full of work from artists who aren’t afraid to get weird in the best possible way

The idea is simple: if Mars had holidays, and Huntsville was the portal, what would that look like on the walls?

You don’t have to know the answer. That’s what the show is for.

The Porch Print Competition: Calling Printmakers & Designers

On top of the Mars show, we’re also officially rolling out The Porch Print — a poster competition in collaboration with PorchFest Five Points.

We’re inviting printmakers and graphic designers to create a collectible poster that captures the spirit of PorchFest Five Points 2026 — front porches, neighborhood stories, live music, and that specific kind of Huntsville magic you can’t bottle.

Here’s what to know:

  • It’s a juried competition and exhibition hosted at Remnant Framing

  • Entries should be screen prints, relief prints, or similar hand-printed work

  • The winning design becomes the official PorchFest Five Points 2026 poster

Details on how to submit and how many pieces you can enter are live on our site and available in the shop. If you’re a printmaker, designer, or someone who just really loves good gig posters, this is for you.

How to Plug In Tomorrow

  • 11–7: Come to Lowe Mill for Yule Y’all

  • All day: Step into Remnant Framing (Railroad Room 3B) to see the Mars collaboration show already hanging

  • 7–10: Come back (or stick around) for the official There Is No Place Like Mars For The Holidays sci-fi art party

  • Anytime you’re in the space: Ask about The Porch Print and how to submit your work

The holidays are busy. Schedules are messy. But if you can carve out a little time tomorrow, I think you’ll feel why there really is no place like Lowe Mill — or Mars — for the holidays.
